･System Requirements
･CPU: 25MHz 68040 or later model, either Macintosh or MacOS clone.
･OS: KanjiTalk7.1 or later (including KanjiTalk7.5, MacOS J-7.6, and MacOS J-8.), or any of the above versions of the MacOS with Japanese Language Kit.
･RAM: 8MB minimum if running KanjiTalk7.1 or System7.1 with JLK; 12MB if running KanjiTalk7.5 or System7.5 with JLK, or MacOS J-7.6 or MacOS 7.6 with JLK; 16 MB if running MacOS J-8 or MacOS 8 with JLK.
･Harddisk: Minimum 7MB harddisk space required.
･Display: 640x480 or higher resolution, 16-bit (32,000) or more color recommended.
･CD-ROM drive: dual-speed or faster recommended.
･Notes
This CD-ROM is comprised of two parts: "Accessories" and "B. G. I. Series". The "Accessories" part consists of desktop accessories with a "Nadia" theme, and is stored in separate folders within the "ACCESSORY" folder. Please copy these files, folders and all, to your harddisk before using them.
The "B. G. I. Series" explanation follows the accessories explanations.
The Accessories:
･Calculator (calc)
To activate: Double-click the "calc" icon.
To quit: Choose Quit from the File menu, or press Cmd-Q.
Keys:
･"Convert" = changes between base-10 and base-16 computations. Current setting is shown in upper-left part of display.
･"OFF" = Switches application off.
･"CLIP" = Store results in clipboard.
･"Clr" = Clear results from display.
Functions:
･Can perform computations up to 9 digits in base-10, and up to 7 digits in base-16.
･Cannot perform computations larger than the designated number of digits. Attempts to do so will result in an "ERROR!" message being displayed, and the window being cleared (reset to 0)
･Minus calculations cannot be performed in base-16.
･Cannot perform decimal computations. If a computation results in a decimal value, all digits to the right of the decimal point will be truncated.
･Press the shift key to switch between base-10 and base-16.
･Calendar
To activate: Double-click the "calendar" icon.
To quit: Choose Quit from the File menu, or press Cmd-Q.
Functions:
･Use the direction buttons on the upper-right of the display to move forward and backwards in monthly or yearly increments. The center button returns the display to the current date.
･A graphic appears randomly in the calendar's background at startup. This graphic also changes randomly when the calendar month changes. You can also change the background with the button that resets the display to the current date.
･The calendar can display dates from the year 1 to the year 9999.
･The calendar has no support for holiday entries.
･Clock
To activate: Double-click the "clock" icon.
To quit: Choose Quit from the File menu, or press Cmd-Q.
Functions:
･King chimes the hour like a cuckoo clock.
･At 3PM, the clock face changes into a picture of Marie.
･Click the button on the upper right of the clock face (to the right of where King shows his face) to mute the tick-tock sound (this has no effect on the hourly chimes)
･Scheduler
Important: this accessory can only be used when the keyboard is in English input mode.
Before using Scheduler, copy the Brush Script font into the Fonts folder in the System Folder, and restart your system. This font will make text input into Scheduler look like it was written in brush strokes.
To activate: Double-click the "schedule" icon.
To quit: Choose Quit from the File menu, or press Cmd-Q.
Functions:
･Important: this accessory can only be used when the keyboard is in English input mode.
･Click on the column for the date you want to enter an appointment.
･You can make entries for up to one month from the present date.
･When the appointed date passes, the appointment info is automatically deleted.
･If you want to change or delete a given entry, click on the column for the date in question, and then either overwrite the existing entry or else hit the Delete key to remove the entry altogether.
･You can use the left and right direction buttons in the upper part of the screen to change the date in two-week intervals. Press the round button next to the direction buttons to return to the present date.
･The calendar has no support for holiday entries.
*) The only area that can receive input is the portion currently in the window. A segment must be displayed before it can be examined or altered.
*) Text can only be input in Roman characters.

･Messenger (message)
To activate: Double-click the "message" icon.
To quit: Click on the image of Gratan to bring up the dialog window which asks to confirm that you want to quit, and click the quit button. Else, choose Quit from the File menu, or press Cmd-Q.
Functions:
･On activation, an input window appears. Enter the name of the intended recipient in the first line, and the body of the message in the lines that follow.
･By unchecking the sound checkbox in the input window, you can turn off the sound of Gratan's engine.
･When you have finished entering your message, Gratan will drag it around your screen at random.
･Position the cursor on the sign to make Gratan stop. Use the up and down buttons on the right-hand side of the message box to scroll the information therein. Remove the cursor from Gratan to start it up again. If you do not move the cursor for more than one minute, Gratan will keep moving even if the cursor is touching Gratan and the sign.
*) You can enter a maximum of 16 double-byte characters per line. More than that per line will be entered, but cannot be displayed. You can have as many lines as memory will hold.
The B. G. I. Series
･Setup
This section explains how to transfer the files required to run the B. G. I. Series onto your harddisk. This setup procedure does not install the B. G. I. images themselves. Please install them separately.
1) Place the "Nadia of the Seas of Wonder/The Secret of Blue Water Desktop Accessory " CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2) Copy the "BGI Nadia Setup" file from the CD-ROM to your startup harddisk.
3) Double-click the copy of the "BGI Nadia Setup" file which is now on your harddisk to activate it. This application will automatically copy the files necessary to run B. G. I. onto your harddisk.
4) When the application starts up, choose "Install..." from the File menu. A dialog window will appear. Choose the image size and period, then run the installer.
5) After installation is complete, choose Quit from the File menu, and restart your Macintosh.
6) After restarting, start the B. G. I. Engine, which will change the images installed on your harddisk on a daily basis. This concludes the installation process.
･Memo Function
Memos such as those which can be stored in the Scheduler can only be displayed in an area no larger than 1/4 the size of the screen.
･Using Original Pictures
You can add pictures of your choice, on whatever day you'd like. The application accepts PICT files. If the image in question is a large one, the application may not register it. In that case, increase the memory allocation of the BGI Nadia Setup application.
･Panic Button
You can use any of the alphanumeric keys in combination with any of the modifier keys--Command, Control, etc.--so long as you do not choose a combination that conflicts with a key combination already in use by another application.
･Slideshow
In slideshow mode, the application may sometimes not run properly if you are using a slow CD-ROM drive, changing in less than three seconds, or if the images it is trying to read are too large. To quit the slideshow, click the mouse.
･Sound Files
You can set the Datebook to play a sound on a particular date by choosing that date and clicking the Sound button, or else by double-clicking to the left of an image icon in the Datebook, which will bring up a dialog window for choosing a sound. At this point, choose the sound you want. A speaker icon will appear in entries for dates with sounds set for them, and those sounds will go off at system startup.
Note: Sound files which can be set for this purpose are of the snd type. Also, be sure to use only files which are stored on your harddisk. If you want to use sounds which are stored on a CD-ROM or other external source, please copy them to your harddisk first.
Also note that this CD-ROM does not contain any sound files.
･Notes on Filesharing
If your Macintosh is connected a network, you will almost always have your Sharing Setup set to Start filesharing. In this situation, the thumbnail image files and comments in the image book and the image selection window may be replaced with "X" marks; also, the slideshow may not run properly either. If this happens, open the File Sharing Setup Control Panel, and turn off filesharing.
Similar problems may happen with sound file settings as well. The files are still properly stored, however; use them as normal.
･Extension Conflicts:
The B. G. I. Series of image displays are run by the B. G. I. Engine, which is a System Extension. As such, problems can occur depending on what other Extensions and Control Panels you may have installed on your system. The B. G. I. Series was made with the utmost attention to problems such as these, but if by some chance a conflict should occur, we recommend disabling the offending Extensions or Control Panels.
If you are using Now Utilities Startup Manager, turn off the preference for preventing deletion of icons. If this item is left on, B. G. I. Engine cannot display image files.
･Removing the B. G. I. Series
The B. G. I. Engine resides in the Extensions folder in the System Folder. To turn it off, remove it from the System Folder and restart your Macintosh. If for some reason you cannot restart, or if some other problem occurs, start up with the Shift key pressed down, and then remove B. G. I. Engine.
Other installed files, including images and lookup files, are stored in the B. G. I. Folder in the Preferences folder in the System Folder. If you uninstall the B. G. I. Series, remove this folder together with B. G. I. Engine.

･If you use the MacOS 8 Desktop Picture Control Panel while running B. G. I. Engine, the image displayed by the former will overwrite the latter. When using B. G. I. Engine to display images, turn off the picture display function in Desktop Picture (desktop patterns will still work normally).
･The Panic Button may not work properly on systems running MacOS 8.
